There are three types of insurance adjusters:
- Staff Adjusters are on salary with insurance companies. They investigate claims and write estimates for the company.
- Independent Adjustersare freelancers hired to investigate claims and write estimates for the insurance company, usually on an overflow basis.
- Public Adjusters are hired by policyholders to investigate and estimate their loss on their behalf rather than on behalf of the insurance company.
It is in your best interest as a policyholder to have an experienced public adjuster on your side in the event of a significant loss, to protect your interest and maximize your claim recovery.
